The green choice for York Central
Andy Chase has 20 years' track record in York as an active community campaigner. In 2007 he came within 1% of taking a council seat from Labour in Micklegate. He has:
- fought post office closures in the city
- spoken out over many major planning applications, such as the Terry's site and the successful opposition to the Coppergate II shopping centre next to Clifford's Tower in 2003
- supported the campaign for 20mph areas in residential streets
- opposed the dualling of the ring road, campaigning instead for a city with better public transport and safer walking and cycling
