I will press for more jobs and better public services in York
Strong families and the building blocks for strong communities. Labour supports families - with jobs, better schools, childcare and cash. In York 15,900 families receive child and working tax credits worth around 3000 a year.
Hugh secured a recession-busting loan guarantee to build a confectionery packing plant in York, and has brought hundreds of government jobs to our city.
Cancer deaths in York down by 16%. Women in York now live 2 years and men 3 years longer.
4,998 fewer crimes in York last year than in 2005.
