On top of his admission of admiration for Thatcher, the Lib Dem leader also claims his policies are more in line with Thatcher's than those of today's Tories.

In September last year, the new Lib Dem leader called for "savage" cuts to public spending.

The Lib Dems will not rule out cuts to frontline services.
