Labour will protect investment in our schools, the NHS and frontline police services. NHS waiting lists will remain low; we will introduce free health checks for 40-74s and affordable, high-quality, personalised care, with a new National Care Service. We will re-link the basic State Pension to earnings in 2012. Labour will protect spending on Schools and Sure Start, increasing free childcare and guaranteeing a rise in funding per pupil per year, and providing one-to-one tuition for pupils who fall behind. Labour will guarantee every young person who wants it, the right to a training place, or an apprenticeship. Labour is supporting investment in green technology and jobs of the future, as part of our commitment to tackling climate change. Only a Labour government can, and will, deliver on these promises.
