Change that works for you
Everywhere I go I meet people who are desperate for change in our country. It reminds me of 1997, when things had gone so wrong under the last Conservative Government. Then, like now, things had to change. Labour promised us so much. Almost everyone hoped things would get better. But the events of recent years have left those hopes in tatters. A Government that puts up taxes on ordinary people while allowing bankers to dodge taxes on their obscene bonuses. A Government that forces pensioners to live in a single room in their house because that's all they can afford to heat. A Government that can't even equip British troops properly before sending them into battle Labour doesn't deserve to win here again. Labour MPs nearly always back Gordon Brown and party bosses rather than standing up for local people. The Conservatives can't win here - they are in a poor third place. Only the Liberal Democrats can deliver real change here. I will be a different kind of MP for our area. An MP who will put people before politics. An MP who will stand up for our NHS, local jobs and for vital local services. An MP who will deliver a fairer deal for Walthamstow's people. I am working closely with Nick Clegg and your local Lib Dem Focus team; Tulat Raja, Samantha Syrus & Bob Wheatley. We want to bring real change to Walthamstow. Over the last 6 years, I've campaigned alongside local people to get a better deal for our area. I have fought to save local post offices from Labour cuts, campaigned to keep local Libraries open and worked with local residents groups to get action in their area. With your support we can change Walthamstow and make Britain a fairer place to live Thanks and best wishes Farid Ahmed PS - In such a close election between Labour and myself, every vote will be vital. The Tories are out of the race in Walthamstow
