We'll stop the review that threatens the Whittington

Antonia Cox, PPC for Islington South and Finsbury met Shadow Hesalth Secretary Andrew Lansley and Shadow Health Minister Mike Penning at the House of Commons to discuss the threat to the Whittington.

Closure of its A&E department could force Islingotn patients to travel to the Royal Free in Hampstead or to UCH in an emercency.

"Only a Conservative government will halt the NHS London Reorganisation. It is the Labour government which has threatened services at the Whittington" Mrs Cox said.

"A Conservative government will stop the reorganisation process and carry out a proper clinical review of London's needs, taking into account the capital's growing population and particular problems, for example in mental health provision and our approach will ask GPs what would serve their patients best". Mrs Cox added "That's better than Labour's top-down reorganisation which ignores local conditions. Their reorganisation is not driven by the evidence, but by financial pressure. Labour more than doubled the spending on the NHS but much of it went on beaurocracy."
