{"pk":1391,"title":"Lee Martin: Ambitious for Sunderland","description":"The new Sunderland Central constituency presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of history by electing a Conservative MP for Sunderland for the first time in 50 years. In 1997 I was one of the many who voted Tony Blair and New Labour into power. No Government could have started out with more goodwill and a better economic climate. Yet no Government has delivered less and spent more doing so.\r\n\r\nAfter 13 years of Labour in power:\r\n- Almost one million 16 to 24 year olds are unemployed.\r\n- The gap in life expectancy and infant mortality between rich and poor is as wide as it was in Victorian times.\r\n- Many children get left behind at school and social mobility has stalled.\r\n- The poor have got poorer and the rich have got richer.\r\n\r\nWe can't go on like this - It's time for change. With your help we can restore prosperity to Sunderland. As leader of the city's Conservative opposition I have successfully fought for Sunderland's Iconic Bridge to be built and got Tesco to tidy up the Vaux site.\r\n\r\nLabour has written Sunderland off and say nothing more can be done. I know we can do better and achieve more. Vote for me if you are ambitious for Sunderland and want to put it back on the map.\r\n\r\n","party":{"party_id":"party:52","party_name":"Conservative and Unionist Party"},"people":[],"images":[{"image":"https://images.electionleaflets.org/leaflets/06999018bc0eeb6120fd4263e4bf9edf.jpg","image_type":null}],"first_page_thumb":"https://images.electionleaflets.org/thumbs/350/leaflets/06999018bc0eeb6120fd4263e4bf9edf.png","date_uploaded":"2010-04-12T17:44:17+01:00","date_delivered":"2010-04-05T00:00:00+01:00","status":"live"}
